Masonry Estimator

A growing masonry contractor serving residential and commercial clients across Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario is seeking an experienced Masonry Estimator to join the team. The company specializes in brick repair, chimney repair and rebuilds, tuck-pointing, parging, foundation repair, and fireplace restoration. Known for quality craftsmanship and dependable execution, the team takes pride in delivering work done properly and professionally.
This intermediate-level role is ideal for someone who can review project scopes, drawings, and site conditions while preparing accurate, competitive estimates that transition smoothly into field execution.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed project estimates, budgets, quotations, and tender submissions
Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project documents
Conduct site visits throughout Thunder Bay and surrounding areas to take measurements and assess existing conditions
Develop accurate cost breakdowns using Excel and estimating software/tools
Source, review, and compare pricing from subcontractors and local suppliers
Support tendering activities, scope development, and related documentation
Coordinate with project managers and field crews to ensure smooth project handovers
Maintain current labour, material, and vendor pricing information
Clearly communicate estimate assumptions, exclusions, risks, and recommendations
Qualifications
3-5 years of construction or masonry estimating experience
Experience with brick repair, chimney repair, tuck-pointing, parging, foundation repair, or related masonry work preferred
Strong ability to read drawings, specifications, and tender documents
Advanced Excel skills
Excellent organization, accuracy, and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Valid driver's license and ability to attend site visits in and around Thunder Bay
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Professional, accountable, and team-oriented attitude
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
