Seeking a dedicated and motivated Medical Office Assistant (MOA) to work in a community Pediatric Ophthalmologist’s office in northern Surrey (Fraser Heights). We serve a large catchment area with a diverse population. We are looking for a friendly and efficient candidate with a positive attitude that can work well with patients, parents, as well as coworkers in a busy but rewarding environment! Our goal is to provide an excellent eye care experience to our patients.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
*Primary point of contact for patients/parents, referring offices, medical professionals*
- Reception – receive and register patients
- Answering phone calls and writing emails
- Scheduling/managing patient appointments and waitlists
- Process/scan/file incoming referrals and documents, with basic triaging
- Liaising with hospitals to assess and schedule OR bookings
- General tasks: office tidiness and keeping track of supplies
Qualifications and Skills:
- MUST have MINIMUM one (1) year experience and proficiency using the EMR Accuro
- MUST have AT LEAST one (1) year working in a specialist physician’s office, or AT LEAST two (2) years working in a family medicine practice
- MOA certification preferred
- MUST have excellent computer skills, and able to operate a range of office equipment (telephone, fax, computer, printer, scanner, etc.)
- Ability to use certain ophthalmological machines (e.g. OCT) is an asset but not necessary

- Selected applicant will have to be vaccinated with the routine immunizations, as well as against COVID-19, as the office serves vulnerable and immunocompromised populations of patients
