BASIC FUNCTIONS
The B Pressure Welder (Welder I) will become a member of the hot tap crew and will be responsible for the welding of branch connection and fittings. Welding will include in service welding on pipeline and standard pipeline welding. Welder I will be qualified to perform special “hot tap” weld procedures and proprietary techniques to complete welding. Welder I will be required to complete butter, butt, and fillet welds.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Red Seal Journeyman Status
- Alberta B Pressure welding ticket
- Completion of external F3/F4, F4 no back tickets
- Completion of Internal C4 testing
- Ability to read, understand and follow procedures
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete welds to both internal as well as external specifications, codes and requirements
- Work with the technician to assist in running all projects
- Act as a mentor to staff acting as welding assistants
- Work as a part of the hot tap crew to ensure the entire job is completed to RFI standards
- Maintain a respectful relationship with all clients and quality control representatives
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc (GTAW), gas metal arc (GMAW), shielded metal arc (SMAW), oxy-acetylene (OAW)
- Operate manual or semi-automatic flame cutting equipment to fit components
DUTIES
- Complete all welds in accordance with RFI and Industrial standards
- Work with the Hot Tap Crew to ensure that all tasks are completed effectively and efficiently
- Complete all training as required
- Other duties as required
HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with all Red Flame Industries Health and Safety Policies
- Ensure that all field work is completed in compliance with Red Flame Industries, Customer, and Industrial Requirements
- Be responsible for hazard mitigation and adhere to PPE requirements for all work sites
- Participate in RFI health and safety program as necessary
