Our Delta, BC location of Zodiac Hurricane Technologies Inc. has an immediate opening for a permanent, full-time Maintenance & Yard Worker in our Production Department. The regular schedule is Monday to Friday, starting at 6:00 a.m. with opportunities for occasional overtime as needed.
We are seeking a reliable, motivated individual with strong attention to detail to join our team. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, at times - perform physically demanding work, lift up to 23 kg (50 lb) on a regular basis, and work safely around industrial chemicals while using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Previous maintenance, manufacturing, or production experience is considered an asset, but is not required.
The Maintenance & Yard Worker performs a variety of general facility, equipment and maintenance duties. This role is responsible for completing basic repairs, preventative maintenance and upkeep throughout the facility including plumbing, electrical, painting, minor equipment repairs and other building maintenance tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, facilities and yard.
- Maintain tools and equipment in clean, safe working order.
- Use a forklift to relocate items as needed.
- Inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair.
- Troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs.
- Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician including repairing drywall, painting doors and other building fixtures, and completing basic plumbing and electrical repairs.
- Use hand tools to complete assigned work and tasks.
- Ensure work is completed to company standards of workmanship and quality requirements while meeting time restraints.
- Follow the direction and instructions of supervisors and team leaders while working both independently and collaboratively with team members.
- Attain daily quality and delivery targets through standardized work.
- Follow company standards and adhere to all safety, quality, policies, and procedures.
- Adhere to all safety requirements and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
- Respond to emergency situations to ensure employee and facility safety.
- Build positive working relationships and demonstrate a high level of cooperation.
- Complete required paperwork as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Sit-Down/Counterbalance Forklift Certificate required.
- 1-2 years of experience in general plumbing, electrical, basic assembly and building systems.
- Two years of facility maintenance experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract required; Code 20 endorsement preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently.
- Fluent in speaking, reading and writing English.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work with strong-smelling chemicals in the environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with critical thinking.
- Familiarity with the use of basic hand tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, at times, physically demanding environment, including regularly lifting a minimum of 23 kg (50 lbs).
- Safety footwear is required.
- WHMIS training is an asset.
- Experience working in a production facility or warehouse environment is an asset.
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn new skills.
