THE ROLE:
Our Edmonton area client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their finance team on a contract basis. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to key financial processes while providing valuable insights that support business performance and strategic decision-making. As a trusted member of the finance team, you will be responsible for financial reporting, cash flow management, project analysis, and process improvements. This role is well-suited for an analytical professional who enjoys collaborating with operational teams and using financial data to drive business results.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing monthly and annual financial statements, along with supporting working papers and schedules
Developing and maintaining cash flow forecasts and providing analysis to support operational and strategic planning
Performing project and profitability analysis, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
Completing account reconciliations and preparing journal entries
Supporting month-end and year-end close processes
Partnering with operational stakeholders to provide financial insights and recommendations
Identifying opportunities to enhance financial controls, reporting processes, and overall efficiency

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
CPA designation or nearing completion of the CPA program
5+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience
Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation and analysis
Experience with cash flow forecasting, reporting, and analysis
Background in project accounting and profitability analysis
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling and data analysis
Experience working with ERP systems
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities effectively
Commitment to accuracy, process improvement, and continuous learning
