Cook – MARU Japanese Bistro (Full-time/Part-time)
At MARU, we’re a cozy Japanese bistro in the heart of Leslieville, serving dishes made from scratch. We’re looking for a cook who is passionate about food, teamwork, and creating a welcoming dining experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and plate menu items with care and consistency
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and follow health & safety standards
- Assist with prep and daily mise en place
- Monitor food quality and temperatures, and communicate with the team
- Work closely with chefs, servers, and bar staff to create a smooth service
- Other duties as needed in a small, collaborative kitchen
Qualifications
- 1+ year of kitchen experience (restaurant experience preferred)
- Knowledge of cooking methods and kitchen equipment
- Interest in Japanese cuisine (experience an asset, but training provided)
- Strong sense of teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail
- Passion for culinary arts and guest experience
- Bringing your own knives is recommended (we encourage cooks to use tools they are comfortable with)
