Overview
DSC Construction is currently seeking motivated, reliable, and hardworking Skilled Labourers to join our growing team in Edmonton and the surrounding area.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting construction, renovation, maintenance, and interior finishing projects. This position is perfect for individuals with experience in flooring installation, drywall, mudding and taping, painting, and general construction. Successful candidates will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
This role offers an opportunity to work on a variety of residential, commercial, and industrial projects while developing valuable hands-on skills in a fast-paced environment.
Location: Edmonton and Surrounding Area, Alberta
Position Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Day shifts, night shifts, evenings, and occasional weekends as required by project demands.
Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Install various flooring materials including vinyl plank, laminate, hardwood, tile, carpet tile, and other flooring systems.
- Assist with drywall installation, repairs, finishing, and touch-ups.
- Apply mud, tape, and finishing compounds to drywall surfaces.
- Sand, prepare, and finish drywall to achieve smooth surfaces ready for painting.
- Prepare surfaces for painting through cleaning, patching, sanding, and priming.
- Apply paint, stains, and coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, layouts, and project specifications.
- Measure, mark, and cut materials accurately using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting materials and equipment to job sites.
- Support carpenters and other skilled trades by preparing work areas and assisting with installations.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform demolition, site preparation, material handling, digging, lifting, and general labour duties as required.
- Assist with setting up scaffolding, barricades, hoarding, and temporary site structures when needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
- Support site cleanup, waste removal, and material organization throughout all phases of construction.
- Follow project schedules, quality standards, and company procedures.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, site-specific safety requirements, and PPE regulations.
QualificationsRequired
- Previous experience in construction, renovations, drywall finishing, flooring installation, painting, or a related field.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, sketches, and project specifications.
- Strong understanding of imperial and metric measurements, with the ability to accurately measure, calculate, cut, and install materials.
- Proficiency in using measuring and layout tools, including tape measures, levels, laser levels, and other construction equipment.
- Ability to safely operate basic hand tools and power tools.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, installation methods, and safe work practices.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labour and regularly lift up to 50 lbs throughout the workday.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.

- Valid Driver's License
- WHMIS Certification
- CSTS Certification
- First Aid Certification
- Fall Protection Certification
- Aerial Lift, Scissor Lift, or Telehandler Tickets
- Experience working on commercial construction and renovation projects
- Knowledge of construction safety regulations and industry best practices
