We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to own the operation of our Edmonton facility. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role is accountable for inventory, warehousing, shipping, receiving, logistics, facility administration, health and safety, and the leadership of the Edmonton operations team. It also provides support to the sales function of the business in the market, including job site remediation. The successful candidate will keep product moving, keep inventory accurate and productive, keep the building safe and well run, and remove obstacles so our sales teams can sell with confidence.
Position and Responsibilities:
- Own inventory accuracy at the Edmonton site, including a regular cycle count program and a reliable accuracy baseline
- Maintain a firm command of inventory levels, turns, and costing, and drive a liquidation plan for aged and obsolete stock
- Ensure receiving accuracy and put-away discipline, so that what the system says is on hand is what is on the floor
- Track and reconcile location sales, where product is produced at one site and physically shipped to or from another
- Partner with procurement on replenishment signals, backorder resolution, and inbound timing
- Direct all warehousing, picking, packing, shipping, receiving, and logistics activity at the facility
- Review open orders and projected revenue daily, and drive their conversion into billing, including the month-end push across staged, unpicked, and past-due positions
- Run a weekly ship audit, confirming both physical product and paperwork, and investigate anything that cannot be located
- Act as gatekeeper on credit hold releases, and review, question, and close open credits and return authorizations
- Lead, hire, onboard, and develop the Edmonton operations team, and conduct semi-annual performance reviews
- Own health and safety at the site, including the safety committee and COR requirements
- Oversee building repair, maintenance, and appearance, along with site security and access administration
- Oversee facility administration and a clean flow of paperwork
- Take responsibility for facility expenses and expense performance, and prepare the facility budget including logistics and warehouse
- Approve non-PO expenses and manage purchase orders for outsourced finishing work
- Work closely with sales leadership and customer service to ensure product ships on time and at the highest margin possible
- Maintain and promote a strong customer service attitude across all staff, resolving conflict quickly and efficiently with both the customer and the company in mind
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 5+ years of operations, warehouse, or facility management experience
- Demonstrated experience leading frontline teams, including hiring, training, and performance management
- Strong inventory management background, including cycle counting, accuracy programs, and aged stock
- Experience with ERP systems and business intelligence reporting; S2K and Power BI considered an asset
- Working knowledge of health and safety requirements, with COR experience considered an asset
- Comfort with financial accountability, including budget preparation and expense management
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across sales, manufacturing, and administration
- Ability to prioritize and act quickly in a fast-paced environment with competing demands
- Building materials, construction, or related distribution industry experience considered a strong asset
