PrairieGEO Engineering Ltd. provides geotechnical, and materials engineering and testing services. Our mission is to provide quality, practical and innovative consulting services to our client and conducting our business with integrity.
Our Calgary office is seeking an experience Geotechnical Technician to support a variety of projects ranging from residential, commercial, municipal infrastructure to heavy industrial development.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage a wide variety of geotechnical projects to meet our client’s needs as well as maintain high level of safety and quality standards;
- Coordinate and carry out field inspection of construction works and material testing of construction materials;
- Undertake analysis and design tasks, summarize, review and interpret laboratory data;
- Prepare and assist to write proposals and technical reports; and,
- Perform Plastic concrete test (slump & air tests) according to CCIL standards
Qualifications
- Post-graduate degree or Diploma in a geo-engineering discipline such as Civil Geotechnical Engineering.
- Between 0-3 years of relevant experience; willing to train the right candidate.
- Comfortable driving mid to full-sized pickup trucks in urban, rural, and construction environments;
- Comfortable working in a variety of environments, including local and remote construction sites;
- Proficiency with spoken and written English language is required; and,
- Eligible for membership with APEGA.
- Safety certification is a plus.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with various geotechnical software such as SlopeW, SeepW, Settle3D and Auto-cad is preferred.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; and,
- Strong computer skills (i.e. spreadsheet and word-processing).
- Team player and fast learner.
Additional Information
- Criminal Record Check may be conducted;
- Drug and alcohol testing may be required prior to accessing client sites;
- 3 Year Driver’s Abstract and a Claims Experience Letter will be requested;
- Flexible schedule, with the ability to work overtime and/or weekends as required; and,
