Reporting to the Manager, Procurement & Materials, the Contract Specialist is a senior professional advisory role responsible for supporting and leading aspects of the development, negotiation, execution, and administration of complex procurement and service contracts that support Yukon Hospital Corporation’s operational, clinical, and financial objectives.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
- Advanced knowledge of procurement practices, contract law, and healthcare regulatory environments
- Strong understanding of supply chain and inventory management principles
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Highly developed analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities
- Proficiency with procurement systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated ability to manage complexity, prioritize effectively, and deliver results under pressure
- Ability to operate both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Strong cultural awareness and commitment to inclusive practices
The successful candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related filed. A minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in procurement or contract management within a complex institutional setting. Additional supply chain experience, preferably in healthcare, is considered an asset. Knowledge of Meditech Expanse inventory system and Professional designation or certification (e.g., Supply Chain Management Professional – SCMP) is desired. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
