Position Overview
We are now hiring a Purchasing & Administrative Assistant. This is a full-time position (32-40 hours per week) based in Castlegar, BC. The Purchasing & Administrative Assistant supports day-to-day purchasing operations and general administrative functions. This role helps ensure accurate ordering, organized record-keeping, and effective coordination with suppliers and internal teams. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented and interested in developing their skills in purchasing, inventory management, and business operations, with the potential to grow into a more senior purchasing or business management role over time.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and support recurring purchasing activities across multiple locations, ensuring consistent, accurate ordering and effective inventory control within budget

Monitor inventory and make data-driven replenishment decisions based on sales trends, seasonality, and supplier availability

Analyze sales, promotions, and seasonal patterns to support forecasting, inventory planning, and merchandising initiatives

Prepare and process purchase orders accurately and on time

Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, product availability, and delivery timelines

Track orders, follow up on backorders, and resolve discrepancies with suppliers

Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier information

Provide general administrative support, including data entry, filing, and correspondence

Assist with reporting related to purchasing and inventory

Collaborate with team members to support overall operational needs
Qualifications and Skills:

High school diploma required; post-secondary education in business administration or a related field is an asset

Previous administrative or purchasing experience is considered an asset

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Ability to learn inventory or point-of-sale systems

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

Compensation:This is a full-time position offering a wage in the range of $22.00 to $25.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
