Physiotherapy Assistant – Job Description

Position Summary
Planet Healthcare is seeking a motivated and compassionate Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) to support our physiotherapy team in delivering high-quality patient care. Working under the supervision of a Registered Physiotherapist, the PTA will assist with treatment programs, therapeutic exercises, patient education, and clinic operations to help patients achieve their rehabilitation goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Physiotherapist.
- Assist patients with prescribed exercise programs and rehabilitation activities.
- Demonstrate and monitor therapeutic exercises and stretches.
- Apply treatment modalities such as ultrasound therapy, TENS/electrotherapy, heat, and cold therapy as directed by the physiotherapist.
- Prepare treatment rooms and maintain therapy equipment.
- Document patient progress and treatment activities accurately.
- Educate patients on home exercise programs and injury prevention strategies.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment.
- Collaborate with physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Diploma or certification as a Physiotherapy Assistant, Kinesiology graduate, or related healthcare field.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Experience in a physiotherapy or rehabilitation clinic is an asset.
- Knowledge of therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation techniques is preferred.
