Blackbird Security Inc. is seeking an experienced and driven Accounting Manager to join our team and play a key role in strengthening our financial operations as we continue to build and expand our company.
Role Summary
As the Accounting Manager, you will lead our Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) teams, reporting directly to the Financial Controller and CFO. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Vancouver, BC. As a key leadership role within the company, it requires a proactive individual who is ready to take ownership, work independently, and drive the performance and productivity of the accounting department.
The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, possess strong time management skills, and demonstrate a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles along with a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounting team.
- Supervise the bi-weekly invoicing process to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
- Monitor outstanding and overdue invoices, ensuring appropriate follow-ups and reminders are issued.
- Ensure the completion of key financial deliverables in accordance with internal deadlines and standards.
- Maintain and update accurate and organized financial records.
- Reconcile accounts receivable and issued invoices regularly to ensure accuracy.
- Manage the preparation and distribution of bi-weekly invoices.
- Communicate with clients in a professional, clear, and timely manner to address any billing-related inquiries.
- Proactively identify discrepancies or issues in financial data and take corrective action as needed.
- Update and review payroll hours control sheet.
- Review adjustment control sheet, submit to Financial Controller, and respond to inquiries from the CFO and Board.
- Supervise bookkeeping processes, including AR/AP reconciliation and bank reconciliations.
- Assist with period-end close activities.
- Log and propose process improvements on a quarterly basis.
- Prepare and present financial reports to management teams as required.
- Provide financial and administrative support to the Financial Controller or CFO as needed.
- Collaborate with executive leadership on financial projects and ad hoc tasks as required.
- Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably assigned, consistent with your qualifications and capabilities.
Job Requirements
- 3–4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience managing or supervising a team.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks or NetSuite.
- Post-secondary education or coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience with TrackTik software is an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Must be able to report to the Vancouver, BC office on a regular or as-needed basis.
