Our client located in Kitchener-Waterloo is looking for a Millwright or Mechanical Engineer to join their team in a full-time permanent role as Field Service Technician!
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing, maintaining and repairing industrial equipment such as food-processing machinery, automation machinery or other manufacturing equipment.
As the Service Technician, you will be responsible for travelling to customer sites in Ontario to install, service and repair production machinery. You have solid technical knowledge to provide guidance and troubleshoot issues for complex customer equipment installations.

Required Skills:
- Millwright or similar trade qualification or Mechanical Engineer with hands-on equipment repair experience; Technically and mechanically proficient
- College Diploma in Engineering, Mechanical or Mechatronics and/or completion of an apprenticeship program in Millwrighting
- Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic power systems or control
- Minimum of one year mechanical or electrical repair
- Knowledge of electronics, mechanics, AC and DC servo drives, hydraulics and
- 2-5 years’ experience in a food production facility or other manufacturing environment.
- Ability to listen to and understand spoken information/ ideas as well as the ability to read and understand written information.
- Ability to communicate clearly and present information and ideas in a way that others can understand.
- Strong deductive reasoning skills with the ability to generate solutions that effectively solve problems.
- Strong attention to detail with strong organization and time management skills.
- Able to work well under pressure with limited direction and work well in a team environment
- Intermediate computer skills, knowledge of Internet software and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- MUST HAVE – Valid driver’s license and valid passport for international travel
Job Duties:
- Travel to customer locations to install, service and repair food processing machinery.
- Supports customer satisfaction with effective maintenance and repair of food production equipment in the meat, bakery, dairy, poultry and seafood processing sector.
- Inspects equipment to detect or determine any issues or malfunctions.
- Troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic control systems for technical support, installation of new equipment, PM’s and repairs.
- Provide customer training on new equipment.
- Works well as part of a collaborative team to support and share specialized technical expertise.
- Complete detailed service reports and applicable CRM maintenance.
- Manages spare parts inventory
- Maintains customer equipment repair and maintenance records in ERP.
- Fosters and maintains excellent customer relations.
- Must be willing to travel approximately 80% of the time
- Must be willing to work weekends (approximately 1 to 2 per month) and after hours as required. This role is eligible for overtime.
- Required to travel to Germany and/or USA for training (approximately 1-2 times per year)
