Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Physiotherapy Assistant to support our healthcare team in delivering exceptional patient care. This role involves assisting licensed physiotherapists in implementing treatment plans, preparing patients for therapy sessions, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for recovery. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, experience in private clinic or acute care settings, and a passion for helping patients regain their mobility and strength.
Responsibilities
- Assist physiotherapists with patient assessments and therapy sessions
- Prepare treatment areas and ensure all equipment is sanitized and ready for use
- Support patients during exercises, ensuring proper technique and safety
- Monitor patient progress and report any concerns or changes to the supervising physiotherapist
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient treatments and progress notes
- Provide compassionate patient care, addressing questions and offering encouragement
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient records
Qualifications
- Prior hospital, private practice or acute care experience is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology relevant to physiotherapy and patient care
- Experience working with diverse patient populations, demonstrating empathy and professionalism
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety protocols
- Certification or training as a Physiotherapy Assistant is advantageous but not mandatory; relevant experience will be considered
- A genuine interest in supporting patient recovery and improving quality of life
