POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Procurement and Contracts Superintendent is responsible for the leadership, planning, and execution of all procurement, warehousing, inventory control, and contracts administration activities for both the Bradshaw Mine Site and the Redstone Mill. This role ensures the timely, cost‑effective, and compliant sourcing of goods and services required to support safe, reliable mining and milling operations. The Superintendent will develop and maintain procurement and contracting strategies, oversee vendor and contractor performance, manage inventory and warehousing functions, and ensure all activities are aligned with Gowest Gold’s safety, environmental, financial, and operational objectives.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure all procurement, warehousing, and contractor activities comply with occupational health and safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring suppliers and contractors meet Gowest Gold’s safety standards.

Ensure proper handling, storage, and documentation of hazardous materials in accordance with WHMIS and regulatory requirements.

Maintain compliance with internal policies, financial controls, and audit requirements.

Lead all site‑based procurement activities for materials, equipment, consumables, and services supporting mine and mill operations.

Develop and implement procurement strategies, policies, and procedures that ensure best total cost, reliability of supply, and operational readiness.

Source goods and services through competitive bidding, negotiation, and contract award while ensuring compliance with internal controls and delegated authorities.

Approve purchase requisitions and purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of pricing, quantities, specifications, and delivery timelines.

Establish long‑term supply agreements and preferred vendor relationships for recurring and critical materials.

Monitor market conditions and supplier performance to identify risks, cost‑saving opportunities, and alternative sourcing strategies.

Lead the administration of service and supply contracts from tendering through execution, close‑out, and renewal.

Coordinate contract scopes, commercial terms, performance requirements, and change management with internal stakeholders.

Monitor contractor compliance with contract terms, safety requirements, insurance, and statutory obligations.

Manage contract variations, claims, disputes, back‑charges, warranties, and close‑out documentation.

Maintain accurate and auditable records of all contracts and associated correspondence.

Oversee all warehousing and inventory control activities at both the Bradshaw Mine Site and Redstone Mill.

Establish inventory management practices to optimize stock levels, reduce working capital, and ensure availability of critical spares.

Implement cataloguing, storage, and issuing practices that prevent loss, damage, or obsolescence.

Coordinate inventory counts, audits, and spot checks to ensure system accuracy.

Work with operations and maintenance teams to identify, source, and stock critical spare parts.

Provide day‑to‑day leadership to procurement, warehouse, and materials personnel.

Establish clear objectives, priorities, and performance expectations aligned with operational needs.

Support recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and performance management of direct reports.

Work collaboratively with site leadership, maintenance, operations, finance, and HSE teams to align supply chain activities with business requirements.

Prepare and present regular reports on procurement performance, inventory levels, contract status, and cost trends to the General Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

University degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.

Professional supply chain or procurement certification (e.g., SCMP, PMAC/CIPS) is considered an asset.

Minimum 5–10 years of progressive experience in procurement, materials management, or supply chain roles within mining, industrial, or heavy manufacturing environments.

Proven experience in contracts administration and vendor management.

Previous leadership or superintendent‑level experience is preferred.

Experience supporting both mine and mill operations is a strong asset.

Strong understanding of procure‑to‑pay processes, inventory control, and warehousing operations.

Working knowledge of ERP or materials management systems.

Strong commercial and contract language comprehension.

Ability to analyze procurement and inventory data to drive cost and efficiency improvements.

Strong organizational, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This role supports operations at both the Bradshaw Mine Site and the Redstone Mill, located in the Timmins, Ontario area.

The ideal candidate for the role will work a schedule of 4 days on and 3 off, 10-hour days. Although you will be assigned a work schedule, this is not a guaranteed schedule of hours, and your work hours may vary with the needs of the company.
