The Contents Department Shop Hand / Driver is part of a committed team performing contents handling, pack out and restoration services on site and in our warehouse. This team provides exceptional customer service in a fast-paced and unpredictable industry environment.
The Role
- Assisting our contents department crews and management on site and in our warehouses to facilitate the logistics of contents jobs.
- Packing / moving and handling of contents items (including larger furniture items for example) on and off sites.
- Cleaning and processing of contents items from sites as needed or dictated by job load.
- Driving of 16’ (minimum) cube / moving trucks with general vehicle care responsibilities during day-to-day use (cleaning, performing required checks, sign out of keys).
- Packing out (moving) and loading to moving trucks (cube trucks) of contents items for transport between job sites, warehouses and disposal sites.
- Performing the physical disposal of waste from job sites and warehouses when required.
- Packing and organization of storage facilities (indoor storage vaults, on site storage pods, seacan units).
- Communication and problem solving of day-to-day expected logistical challenges and working with department management to find solutions to problems.
- Acceptance of supply deliveries with unloading and loading of supplies and equipment between warehouse locations.
- Supply and equipment usage tracking and communication with management to ensure daily job supply levels are maintained.
- Daily work life in this role will involve working in outdoor conditions as needed in various seasonal weather conditions.
To be successful in this position, you will need:
- Clear criminal background check
- Able to lift and move a minimum of 50 lbs weight comfortably and without concern
- Good general health suitable for a physically demanding daily work life
- Valid Class 5 driver's license along with a clear 3-year drivers abstract is required
- Experience driving a moving truck / cube truck or similar is required
- Training of job role and industry specific requirements will be provided
- A great attitude, punctuality, and excellent attendance records
- The ability to work within a close-knit team
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
- Follow detailed instructions and be able to take direction
- Ability to think on your feet and make decisions when needed to problem solve
