JOB DESCRIPTION: Loader Operator
STATUS: Full-time, Hourly Position
LOCATION: Roblin, Manitoba

JOB PURPOSE:
To operate and maintain terminal equipment in a safe and efficient manner while unloading/loading customer’s products into/out of transport vehicle, car, or truck.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Main objective is to feed the slasher and keep it running constantly.
- Perform and record prestart inspection, start engine, shift gears, press pedals, and turn steering wheel to operate loader.
- Operate rubber-tired wheel loader equipped with front mount hydraulically powered grapple or bucket to lift and transport materials to and from storage or processing areas, to feed the slasher table or conveyors.
- Operate mobile equipment such as Log Loaders and Front-End Loaders to load and unload treelength material.
- Move levers to lower and tilt grapple, to load material onto grapple for transport.
- Move levers to raise and tilt grapple and bucket when loaded or filled and then drive to storage site, conveyor, or slasher table to unload material.
- Load and unload mulch and firewood for customers as needed.
- Get off the loader to help pre-sort material for the slasher operator by hand when needed to keep the slasher running efficiently.
- Keep debris material clear of the areas where the loader will transport material.
- Keep debris around the slasher clear, either by hauling it to the fire pit area or stockpiling it at the back of yard.
- Perform routine maintenance on loader, like lubrication, fueling, oil changes and cleaning.
- Understand written documents for proper handling of the customers products.
- Understand basic safe use of shop tools.
- Identify and report any and all unsafe working conditions.
- Maintain communication with co-workers concerning their operational needs.
- Perform all work in compliance with company standards and procedures.
- Other duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Specialized Equipment Utilized:
- Log Loaders (operate and maintain)
- Front end loaders (operate and maintain)
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
- Experience operations in log handling including long poles helpful.
- Experience operating mobile equipment including log loaders & front-end loaders.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Physical endurance: Ability to work in a high-paced production environment requiring physical stamina.
- May occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more.
- Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions; majority of the time will be working outside.

- Plan movement of material to storage areas that coincide with bringing back material on return trips. Maximize efficiency in reduced hours and fuel usage.
