Aspen View Public Schools, with a division office located in the town of Athabasca, is a rural school division providing diverse and innovative programming to students in a number of communities. Vilna School and the Vilna Outreach Achievement Academy (VOCAA) are located in the hamlet of Vilna in Smoky Lake County, serving students from preschool (age 3) through Grade 12. The school provides a safe, caring, and inclusive environment grounded in strong relationships, compassion, and a focus on literacy, numeracy, and self-regulation. Daily reading interventions and a supportive instructional approach help ensure that students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Vilna School offers a broad range of junior and senior high programs, including Robotics, STEM, Foods, and Outdoor Education, along with hands-on career exploration. A comprehensive graduation and career guidance program supports students as they plan for their futures, and extracurricular sports contribute to teamwork, confidence, and school engagement.
Flexible programming, restorative practices, and a teacher advisory model help meet the diverse needs of students. A dedicated student support team provides academic, wellness, and cultural support. Indigenous culture is an integral part of the school community, including a daily smudge ceremony. Vilna School is recruiting to a dynamic junior high generalist teacher with a specialization in art, music or drama. Cree/Metis/Indigenous language and cultural knowledge would be considered an asset.
This position will commence August 26, 2026, the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
