Job Summary
We are seeking an assistant for our Carpenters to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a entry level background in various carpentry tasks and be able to work independently or as part of a team. This position requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to read and interpret drawings. The Assistant will be responsible for building, restoring, and maintaining structures and fixtures using wood, concrete, and other materials.
Duties
- Construct and install structures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard.
- Lay flooring as needed.
- Build roofs and frameworks for buildings.
- Install cabinets, millwork and other fixtures according to specifications.
- Preform other construction related task necessary to take the project from first shovel to completion.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople to ensure project completion on time.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Work safe at all times and be familiar with Safe work practices and use of PPE.
Requirements
- Some experience in construction or carpentry or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Experience in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and techniques involved in carpentry work.
- Experience with wood frame construction, exterior cladding and other finishes, cabinet and millwork installation, and restoration tasks is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform physical labor including lifting heavy materials (up to 50 pounds) and standing for long periods.
- Problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members.
