Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our tax and accounting firm. This role is ideal for a candidate who has a solid foundation in bookkeeping and accounting is looking to continue developing their technical skills in a professional firm. The successful candidate will support a range of client accounting, tax, and compliance services while working closely with senior team members. This position offers hands-on experience with diverse clients, opportunities for growth.
Responsibilities
· Prepare and maintain bookkeeping records for a variety of clients, including posting transactions, reconciling accounts, and reviewing general ledger activity
· Prepare bank, credit card, accounts payable, and accounts receivable reconciliations to ensure accurate and complete financial records
· Assist with the preparation of year-end working papers, adjusting journal entries, and financial statements for review
· Prepare GST/HST returns, payroll filings, and other compliance-related forms as required
· Support client payroll, remittance, and government filing requirements while ensuring deadlines are met
· Communicate with clients to request information, clarify transactions, and follow up on outstanding items in a professional manner
· Use accounting and tax software such as QuickBooks, CaseWare, or similar platforms
· Assist senior accountants and managers with Compilation, and tax engagements as needed
· Maintain organized electronic and paper files in accordance with firm standards and confidentiality requirements
Qualifications
· Diploma, degree, or coursework in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field
· One to three years of relevant accounting, bookkeeping, tax, or public practice experience is preferred;
· Knowledge of bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, payroll, sales tax filings, and year-end accounting procedures
· Experience with accounting and tax software such as QuickBooks Online, CaseWare, or similar programs is preferred
· Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple deadlines
· Good analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
· Clear written and verbal communication skills with a professional client-service approach
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
