Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated On-call Infants/Toddlers Educator to provide high-quality care and early childhood education for infants and toddlers on an as-needed basis. This role involves creating a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment that supports the developmental needs of young children. The position offers flexible scheduling to accommodate various shifts and is ideal for individuals passionate about early childhood education and childcare. The educator will work closely with families, staff, and other professionals to ensure the well-being and growth of each child.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive care to infants and toddlers, ensuring their safety, comfort, and emotional well-being.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive, social, and physical development.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning and exploration.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding daily activities, milestones, and any concerns.
- Follow all health, safety, and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment for children.
- Assist with diapering, feeding, nap times, and other routine care tasks.
- Document observations of children’s progress and behavior for ongoing assessment and reporting.
- Collaborate with team members to plan curriculum activities that support individual developmental goals.
Skills
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities in French or other languages are a plus.
- Experience working with children, especially infants and toddlers, in childcare or early childhood education settings.
- Knowledge of child development principles and age-specific needs for infants/toddlers.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with leadership qualities when needed.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently during busy routines.
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is desirable.
- Proficiency in classroom management techniques and teaching strategies tailored for early childhood learners.
- Basic computer skills including operation of educational software or documentation tools.
- Strong writing skills for maintaining accurate records and reports related to child progress.
