SENIOR TECHNICAL PRE-SALES SPECIALIST

THE ROLE
The Senior Technical Pre-Sales Specialist owns the technical discovery, solution definition, and pre‑sales technical validation required to support Shing Digital’s sales process.
This role partners closely with Account Executives to translate client business needs into clear, technically sound, quote‑ready solutions, ensuring opportunities are well‑scoped, commercially appropriate, and deliverable by Operations and Project teams.
The position is designed for a senior Tier 2 to Tier 3 technical professional who is comfortable leading client conversations, assessing environments, and recommending solutions
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES
Client Discovery & Requirements Ownership
- Lead or co-lead technical discovery sessions during in-person and virtual sales meetings.
- Assess current-state client environments, technical risks, and operational constraints.
- Create, document, and validate functional and technical requirements for sales opportunities.
- Produce clear discovery outputs to enable accurate scoping, pricing, and delivery handoff.
- Maintain accurate discovery notes and environment summaries within CRM.
- Identify and document assumptions, risks, and dependencies impacting scope or pricing.
Pre‑Sales Solution Definition
- Define solution approaches for infrastructure, cloud, security, and project-based opportunities.
- Align proposed solutions with Shing Digital standards, supported technologies, and service capabilities.
- Perform cost-benefit analysis and recommend right-sized solutions based on client maturity and budget.
- Clearly articulate technical trade-offs and options to internal teams and client stakeholders.
- Document proposed solutions and technical specifications suitable for quoting.
- Establish scope boundaries, exclusions, and prerequisites.
Technical Quoting Support
- Provide quote-ready technical inputs to Sales Analysts and Account Executives.
- Validate technical scope, labor assumptions, and solution components prior to client delivery.
- Contribute to and maintain technical quoting templates and reference solutions.
- Support RFP and complex opportunity responses as required.
- Deliver complete and accurate inputs for quotes and proposals.
- Minimize rework caused by unclear or incomplete technical scope.
Sales‑to‑Delivery Handoff
- Deliver clean, documented handoff from Sales to Operations and Project teams.
- Communicate client expectations, success criteria, assumptions, and identified risks.
- Provide post-sale technical clarification to support successful project execution.
Continuous Improvement & Enablement
- Identify recurring solution patterns and contribute to SOPs and standards.
- Enhance technical pre-sales review practices, templates, and documentation.
- Stay current on Shing Digital offerings, vendor platforms, and industry trends.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
- Windows Server and Active Directory environments.
- Microsoft 365 (core services, identity, security fundamentals).
- Networking fundamentals (firewalls, switching, wireless).
- Intermediate cloud experience, including Microsoft Azure environments.
- Virtualization and hybrid‑cloud scenarios.
- Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Endpoint protection and cybersecurity fundamentals.
- Common SMB and mid‑market SaaS platforms.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure roles.
- Proven ability to operate at a senior Tier 2 or Tier 3 level.
- Strong requirements analysis and technical problem‑solving skills.
- Clear, confident communication in client‑facing settings.
- High attention to detail and documentation quality.
- Experience supporting pre‑sales or technical sales activities (preferred).
- Exposure to solution design, project scoping, and quoting workflows (preferred).
- Familiarity with PSA / CRM platforms (e.g. Autotask, ConnectWise) (preferred).
- Strong business awareness and cost‑conscious decision‑making (preferred).
