The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta (SSA) is a not-for-profit organization that improves quality-of-life and provides information and support programs for Albertans affected by schizophrenia and related disorders. The Society also works to increase public awareness and understanding of schizophrenia while reducing stigma and discrimination due to this illness. SSA offers quality programs and services based out of our five branches throughout the province of Alberta. If you have experience and a passion for working with vulnerable populations, the SSA has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time Peer Support Outreach Program Coordinator in our Calgary branch.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Provincial Program Director, the Peer Support Outreach Program Coordinator will be responsible for:
- All aspects of coordination and supervision of the Peer Support Outreach Program in branch and community
- Ensure programs meet and align with SSA goals and objectives
- Provide effective recruitment, development and implementation of in-service education, professional development, and fostering effective team dynamics
- Provide individualized nonclinical supports for program recipients and Peer Support Team members
- Maintain program specific data
- Other duties as required
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in the Human Services field (social work, psychology, and other social service or health related fields)
- Minimum 3 years progressive experience working with people living with schizophrenia or other related mental health disorders
- Strong leadership and management abilities, with the capability to motivate and inspire a team
- Familiarity with data collection platforms and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in complex situations.
- Demonstrated initiative, reliability, flexibility and sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as the ability to work within a team environment.
- Demonstrated strong organizational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrate empathy and compassion with vulnerable populations
Must provide valid Criminal Record check.
Must have valid Driver’s license and personal vehicle.
Compensation: $26.00 per hour + comprehensive benefits package
