We are hiring on behalf of our client, a global insurance organization with operations across North America, Europe, and Asia. Headquartered in Europe, the company is recognized for its strong financial performance, disciplined growth strategy, and commitment to delivering innovative insurance and risk management solutions across multiple markets. As the organization continues to expand its North American presence, they are seeking an experienced Group CFO to lead the Canadian business while serving as a strategic partner to the global executive team and Board.

Our client is seeking a Group CFO to lead the Canadian finance organization and act as a key member of the executive leadership team. Reporting into global leadership, this individual will be responsible for the overall financial stewardship of the Canadian business while providing strategic guidance on growth, profitability, capital allocation, governance, and enterprise risk. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping business strategy, advising the Board, influencing key stakeholders, and ensuring the organization is positioned for continued long-term success.
Principal tasks and responsibilities include:
- Serve as the senior financial executive for the Canadian business, providing strategic leadership and oversight across all finance functions
- Partner with the CEO, executive leadership team, and global headquarters to develop and execute the organization's long-term strategic plan
- Lead all financial reporting, regulatory reporting, budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, treasury, tax, and governance activities
- Prepare and present Board materials, financial performance updates, strategic recommendations, business cases, and risk assessments to Board members and executive stakeholders
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Board and executive leadership team, providing financial insight to support major business decisions and growth initiatives
- Lead capital allocation, investment analysis, business planning, and profitability initiatives to maximize shareholder value
- Oversee treasury management, liquidity planning, cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and capital management strategies
- Evaluate and support mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, market expansion opportunities, and other strategic corporate initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, statutory, and corporate governance requirements across the Canadian business
- Manage relationships with regulators, auditors, banking partners, investors, legal advisors, and external stakeholders
- Lead enterprise-wide financial risk management, internal controls, and governance frameworks
- Drive operational excellence through performance measurement, financial analysis, reporting enhancements, and automation initiatives
- Develop and monitor financial and operational KPIs to support accountability, profitability, and organizational performance
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance leadership team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Collaborate closely with international finance teams and global leadership to ensure alignment with corporate objectives and reporting requirements
- Serve as the primary financial spokesperson for the Canadian business internally and externally as required
Qualifications and pre-requisites:
- CPA designation required
- 15+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including executive leadership responsibilities
- Previous experience operating as a CFO, VP Finance, Finance Director, or senior finance executive within a complex organization
- Experience within insurance, financial services, wealth management, banking, or another regulated industry strongly preferred
- Proven experience supporting Boards, Board Committees, executive leadership teams, and shareholder groups
- Strong background in financial reporting, capital management, treasury, strategic planning, governance, and enterprise risk management
- Demonstrated success leading business transformation, growth initiatives, and organizational change
- Experience managing relationships with regulators, auditors, financial institutions, investors, and external advisors
- Experience working within a multinational or global organization is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of regulatory environments, governance frameworks, and compliance requirements
- Exceptional communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and executive influencing skills
- Ability to operate strategically while maintaining a strong understanding of business operations and execution
- Advanced ERP systems experience and strong financial systems knowledge
