Position Summary
Children First Society is seeking a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Classroom Assistant to support educators in delivering engaging learning experiences for children. The Classroom Assistant will help maintain a safe, positive, and welcoming classroom environment while supporting children's educational, social, and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist educators in implementing daily classroom activities, lessons, and routines.
- Support children in learning through play, exploration, and structured activities.
- Foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, transitions, and meal times.
- Encourage positive behavior and support children's social and emotional development.
- Assist with classroom preparation, materials, and activity setup.
- Observe children's participation and communicate concerns or observations to educators.
- Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Early Childhood Education coursework, certification, or related training is an asset.
- Experience working with children in a classroom, daycare, after-school program, or similar setting is preferred.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check required.
- Strong understanding of child development principles is an asset.
