As a Manager of Accounting & Controls at CIMS LP, you will be a key contributor towards CIMS success by owning the full transactional accounting cycle alongside month-end close, internal controls, and audit coordination while embodying CIMS corporate values of Our People, Our Promise, Our Passion.
You will report to the Director of Finance and be accountable for:
- Developing and executing sound strategies to implement the corporate strategic plan with respect to the Accounting function.
- Supporting ERP transition activities (Implementation complete), including documentation and implementation of updated processes and procedures arising from system changes
- Leading, mentoring, and developing accounting staff (including the AP Lead and supporting team) through effective daily communication, guidance, regular meetings, performance feedback, and training opportunities.
- Overseeing all Accounts Payable/Receivable, billing, invoicing, payroll processing activities to ensure timely transaction processing and communicating completion status to the month-end team.
- Owning the month-end close process; preparing and overseeing the production of monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
- Supporting timely and accurate financial reporting, including daily review of intercompany transactions.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining financial controls and guidelines.
A successful candidate would be an individual who has:
- An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field as well as a CPA designation or is working towards a CPA designation.
- A minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated ownership of transactional accounting functions (AP, AR, Billing, Payroll).
- Experience in a construction, real estate, or project-based industry is an asset; familiarity with project/job cost accounting concepts is also an asset.
- Experience with ERP systems; Microsoft Business Central or other Sage/construction ERP experience is an advantage.
- A strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting, GAAP, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in preparing and reviewing reconciliations, month-end working papers, and financial statements.
- High attention to detail and strong commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
Working conditions you can expect while performing your role include:
- Office environment; work to deadlines with periodic high-urgency periods (e.g., month-end close, audit, payroll processing).
- Occasional high-stress situations including collections management and regulatory deadlines.
- May be required to work outside of normal business hours on occasion to meet business needs, particularly during month-end close, year-end, or audit periods.
