Conveniently located outside of Calgary, provides an easier daily commute to our Crossfield location where you would be supported by the rest of our engineering team.
The work is hands-on, engineering-focused, and you get to see your designs through to physical completion, as it’s also manufactured at our Crossfield facility.

Maxfield is looking to hire a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead a team of engineers and designers that support our sales, production and service groups.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be the Responsible Member for Maxfield’s permit to practice.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers, setting schedules based on project deliverables.
- Apply knowledge of industry codes, manufacturing, and engineering to design safe, profitable products.
- Perform and/or review extensive calculations for pressure vessels, piping and structural components including FEA.
- Prepare and/or review design reports for federal and provincial regulatory authorities.
- Be a ‘Responsible Charge’ for ASME pressure vessel design and manufacturing.
- Authentication (stamping) of drawings, calculations, and documents as required.
- Review accuracy and completeness all drawings required to drive projects from concept to production.
- Manage changes that occur during a project.
- Perform and/or review calculations and drawings for vessel modifications and alterations as needed.
- Perform day to day engineering tasks and respond to shop inquiries.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge with continuing education.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety protocols and adherence to industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
- Mandatory Professional Engineer (P.ENG.) registration with APEGA.
- Minimum of four years’ experience designing pressure vessels.
- Previous experience designing pressure piping and structural skids.
- Transport Canada Design Engineer certification will be considered a strong asset.
- Understanding of mechanical engineering design principles and design codes, particularly ASME VIII-1, ASME B31.3, CSA B620, B51, B149.2.
- Strong understanding of fundamental principles in mechanical engineering, including mechanics, thermodynamics, and material science.
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills.
- Exceptionally strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
- Superior communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
