Labourer | Driller | Locator | Plow Operator
KC Horizontal is a growing utility construction contractor specializing in underground telecommunications infrastructure throughout Western Canada. We are currently seeking experienced Telecom Labourer Utility Equipment Operators to join our team on projects in Northern Alberta.

Position Responsibilities
- Operate Horizontal Directional Drills (HDD), drill locators, cable plows, or excavator operator, if assigned.
- Install underground telecommunications infrastructure safely and efficiently.
- Performing hand digging, utility exposure, conduit installation, and general construction labour.
- Interpret utility locates, construction drawings, and work plans.
- Complete daily equipment inspections, hazard assessments, and SiteDocs documentation.
- Work closely with supervisors and crew members to safely meet production and quality objectives.
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Comply with all company HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and report deficiencies.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating HDD drills, drill locators, cable plows, or excavator operator is preferred.
- Knowledge of ground disturbance practices and underground utility locating.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (clean driver's abstract preferred).
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a crew.
Schedule & Compensation
- 21 days on / 7 days off rotation
- 10–12 hour shifts
- Competitive hourly wage based on experience and qualifications.
- Overtime paid in accordance with the Alberta Employment Standards Code and any applicable overtime agreement.
- Live Out Allowance (LOA) provided while working away from your home location.
