The project: As part of our continued growth in the rail and transit sector, we are seeking an experienced and capable Health & Safety (H&S) Manager to support the delivery of complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure programmes.
The H&S Manager will play a key role in ensuring that health, safety, and wellbeing are embedded across all aspects of project delivery, from early development through to construction and closeout. The role will support the implementation of robust H&S management systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with project governance.
Working as part of an integrated project team, the H&S Manager will provide leadership, advice, and assurance on health and safety matters, supporting safe delivery within high-risk rail and infrastructure environments.

You will support the development and implementation of project-specific H&S plans, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and best practice.

You will monitor and report on H&S performance, supporting continuous improvement and safe behaviors across the programme.

Key responsibilities
Support the development and implementation of project health and safety management plans.
Monitor compliance with applicable H&S legislation, standards, and project requirements.
Undertake site inspections, audits, and assurance activities as required.
Support risk assessments, method statement reviews, and safety planning activities.
Support investigation of incidents, including root cause analysis and corrective action tracking.
Provide support to contractors and project teams on H&S matters, ensuring consistent application of standards.
Assist in the preparation of safety reports, dashboards, and performance metrics.
Support coordination with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders where required.
Promote the use of digital tools, modern methods, and continuous improvement in H&S practices.
Maintain and update safety records and registers, including:
- Incidents and accidents
- Hazards and observations
- Risks and mitigation actions
What You’ll need to have
Experience in a health and safety role within construction, infrastructure, or rail projects.
Strong understanding of relevant health and safety legislation, standards, and best practice.
Experience working within complex, multi-stakeholder project environments.
Ability to support safety management across all stages of project delivery.
Strong communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
Ability to identify risks and support practical mitigation strategies.
You’ll also have
Relevant qualification in health and safety (e.g. NEBOSH, CRSP, or equivalent).
Experience working within rail or high-risk infrastructure environments (preferred).
Familiarity with safety management systems, audit processes, and incident reporting.
Proficiency in standard reporting and digital tools.
A proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach.
Note: The estimated salary for this position is 130,000-180,000 CAD. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
