About the Role:
The Warehouse Lead is responsible for supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of the warehouse by coordinating receiving, storage, inventory, shipping, and delivery activities. This role serves as a working lead, providing guidance and support to warehouse associates and drivers while actively participating in warehouse operations. The Warehouse Lead helps maintain inventory accuracy, equipment readiness, safety compliance, and overall warehouse organization while working closely with the General Manager to ensure operational goals are achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations
- Coordinate and participate in daily warehouse activities including receiving, order picking, staging, loading, unloading, shipping, and inventory movement
- Work safely and efficiently while adhering to all company and health & safety policies and procedures
- Ensure customer orders are picked, staged, and prepared accurately and on time
- Maintain product bin locations and support warehouse organization initiatives
- Communicate inventory concerns, backorders, or operational issues to the General Manager
- Assist with warehouse scheduling and daily workflow priorities
- Support delivery operations as required
Inventory & Equipment Management
- Conduct rotating cycle counts and support year-end inventory activities
- Help maintain inventory accuracy and warehouse data integrity
- Ensure forklifts, pump trucks, and other material handling equipment are operational and properly documented
- Coordinate preventative maintenance activities with equipment and vehicle service providers
- Maintain vehicle maintenance records, driver logs, and compliance documentation
- Ensure all driver paperwork remains current and compliant with applicable regulations
Team Support
- Assist with onboarding and training new warehouse team members
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to warehouse associates and drivers
- Help coordinate work priorities to maintain efficient warehouse operations
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture
- Act as a resource for resolving routine operational issues
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and support a strong safety culture within the warehouse
- Ensure compliance with company policies, WHMIS requirements, and occupational health & safety regulations
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness, organization, and general facility upkeep
- Keep Dangerous Goods documentation and floor plans current
- Ensure safe operation of all warehouse equipment and material handling processes
Working Conditions:
- Environment: Work is primarily performed in a warehouse setting with exposure to varying temperatures depending on season (cold in winter, heat in summer) and occasional outdoor work (loading/unloading, maintaining exterior walkways).
- Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive lifting or moving of products weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg); may occasionally handle heavier loads with assistance.
- Work Pace: Fast-paced environment with time-sensitive deadlines and frequent interruptions; may require working extended hours or weekends during peak periods.
- Equipment Use: Regular use of powered material handling equipment (e.g., lift trucks, power walkies, pump trucks, order pickers) and manual handling tools; adherence to safety protocols is essential.
- Safety Requirements: Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, high-visibility vests, and gloves; comply with all company and occupational health & safety regulations.
- Noise & Hazards: Exposure to moderate noise levels from machinery and vehicle operation; must remain alert in high-traffic forklift areas.
- Collaboration: Work closely with team members, supervisors, and drivers; requires adaptability to shifting priorities throughout the shift.
What You Bring:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class 5 license
- 3+ years of experience in a warehouse environment
- Experience working in a computerized warehouse environment using warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Experience coordinating warehouse activities or serving in a lead hand role is considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and warehouse operations
- Experience operating powered material handling equipment (Raymond Reach Certification and experience considered an asset)
- Familiarity with Dangerous Goods regulations and WHMIS requirements
- Accurate and efficient order picking experience
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Strong computer skills
- Health & Safety Certification and/or First Aid Certification considered an asset

- Wage: Starting at $50,000 annually (based on skills, license, and experience)
- Variable compensation: Annual performance bonus eligibility
