Reporting to the Director of Students and Academics, the Behaviour Technician provides direct, proactive, and in-the-moment behavioural support to students within the school's MTSS framework. Working under the direction of the Director of Students and Academics, and in close collaboration with classroom teachers and the resource team, the Behaviour Technician implements group and individualized behaviour plans, supports students during dysregulation, collects data to inform decision-making, and contributes to a positive, restorative school climate.
Key Responsibilities
Direct student support
- Provide 1:1, small-group, and large group behavioural support to students with identified needs across academic structured and unstructured settings (e.g., classroom, recess, transitions, lunch).
- Implement Behaviour Intervention Plans (BIPs), Safety Plans, and check-in/check-out protocols with fidelity.
- Use de-escalation strategies, co-regulation techniques, and restorative approaches to support students in moments of dysregulation.
- Accompany students through scheduled breaks, sensory regulation routines, and structured re-entry to class.
- Other supports as needed.
Data and documentation
- Collect data from multiple sources as directed, and maintain accurate, timely records.
- Document incidents using the school's referral and reflection forms.
- Contribute observational data to FBA processes and BIP reviews.
- Communicate proactively and consistently with parents to inform them of behaviour plans, logical consequences applied, incidents of concern, and ongoing student progress.
Classroom and team collaboration
- Coach and support teachers in implementing classroom-level behavioural strategies and accommodations.
- Participate in team meetings and consultations with outside professionals (psychologists, OTs, behaviour consultants).
- Communicate consistently with the Director of Students and Academics regarding student progress, emerging concerns, and plan adjustments.
School-wide contribution
- Support and reinforce the implementation of school-wide PBIS
- Be present and support supervision and proactive presence in high-need areas (hallways, recess, arrival/dismissal).
- Assist with in-the-moment response as part of the school's behavioural support team.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with elementary-aged children with behavioural, social-emotional, or developmental needs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in French and English
- Experience implementing behavioural interventions in school settings (An asset)
- Familiarity with executive function, emotional regulation, and trauma-informed frameworks (An asset).
Pay: $40,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
