POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Manager, HR & Payroll, the Finance Assistant provides administrative support across Payroll, Finance, and Human Resources. You'll assist with payroll processing, employee benefits administration, financial record keeping, reporting, and day-to-day accounting activities while helping maintain accurate and confidential employee and financial information.
This role works closely with Operations, HR, and Finance to ensure payroll and accounting processes are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll & Benefits Support
Assist with processing bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
Review employee timesheets and support payroll accuracy
Help maintain employee payroll records, wage changes, and deductions
Assist with employee benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations
Respond to employee payroll and benefits inquiries
Support payroll reconciliations, reporting, and year-end activities
Maintain confidential employee information with a high level of accuracy
Finance & Operations Support
Assist with accounts payable and administrative accounting tasks
Support invoice processing, expense tracking, and financial documentation
Help prepare reports, spreadsheets, and supporting documentation
Maintain organized electronic filing systems and financial records
Assist with Labour Equipment Management (LEM) administration and workforce reporting
Support month-end, year-end, and audit preparation activities
Provide administrative support to Finance, HR, and Operations as required
QUALIFICATIONS
1-2+ years of experience in payroll, accounting, finance, administration, or a related field
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration, Payroll, Finance, Human Resources, or a related discipline is considered an asset
Experience supporting payroll or employee benefits is an asset
Foundational understanding of accounting principles and financial administration, with a willingness to learn and grow
Working knowledge of Canadian employment standards and payroll legislation
Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
Experience with payroll, accounting, or ERP software is considered an asset
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy
Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information

WORK CONDITIONS
This position is based in our Edmonton Head Office and operates during regular business hours. Some flexibility may be required during payroll processing periods, month-end, and year-end activities.
