Are you a professional, positive, and attentive caregiver who has a passion for helping others in the community? Pacific Coast Health Services is currently looking for a Caregiver to provide one-on-one care to one of our clients in the Nanaimo area.
You must have previous experience in health care or with providing supportive assistance to someone with high needs.
Position Summary:
The client is alert and orinented, and able to direct care. There is state of the art equipment in place and 24/7 access to nursing support. You will receive additional training and support from the Pacific Coast Nursing Team, as well as several buddy shifts to orient to the position. This is one-on-one care where the caregiver remains at the client's home. The position also has the potential for additional hours if desired.
There are two rotations available:
- Permanent ongoing - 3 nights per week from 8 PM to 8 AM. Days of the week may vary.
- 1 year maternity leave coverage - 3 days per week on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 8 AM to 8 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Light housekeeping
- Personal care, dressing, grooming
- Assistance in the bathroom, shower
- Indwelling catheter care, ostomy care, tracheostomy care, use of an overhead lift
- Meal preparation and set up
- Accompany client to appointments
About You:
- You have experience caring for someone at home or in a facility
- Experience with Spinal Cord Injuries is an asset
- You have a valid certification in CPR and First Aid
- Experience with overhead lifts, power wheelchairs and other mobility equipment is an asset
- Unrestricted Driver's License with willingness to drive an accessible van an asset
- BC certification, or a health related degree from another province or country is desirable
- You have the ability to obtain a Clear Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search upon hire
- You can provide two references who will tell us you are reliable and punctual
- You have a caring, helpful attitude and you are a positive, team player
- You have a reliable vehicle and cell phone
