Fire Testing Technician

AESM has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Fire Testing Technician to join our Melbourne service team. This role is ideal for a motivated individual who enjoys working autonomously, delivering exceptional customer service, and maintaining high safety standards. As a Fire Testing Technician, you will play a key role in the inspection, testing, and maintenance of essential fire protection equipment across a diverse range of commercial, industrial, and residential sites throughout Victoria. Working under the guidance of the Operations Manager, you will help ensure our clients remain compliant while delivering reliable and professional fire protection services.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct routine inspection and testing of fire extinguishers and fire blankets
- Perform inspections and testing of fire hose reels and hydrants
- Test and maintain exit and emergency lighting systems
- Inspect fire doors and associated passive fire protection equipment
- Conduct testing of gas fire suppression systems (where qualified)
- Liaise with customers and site contacts to schedule inspections and maintenance activities
- Complete service reports and compliance documentation using company systems and applications
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and company procedures

The successful applicant will hold a current Victorian Driver's Licence and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and quality workmanship. You will be comfortable working independently while maintaining strong communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
Your Education, Experience and Skills
- Experience within the fire protection industry or a related trade (preferred but not essential)
- Understanding of fire protection equipment and testing requirements (or willingness to learn)
- Diploma or Certificate IV in Fire Technology (advantageous)
- Trade qualification (Plumbing or related discipline) highly regarded
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work autonomously and manage a varied workload
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and mobile reporting systems
- Current Victorian Driver's Licence
