As a Software Developer Specialist reporting to the Director, you'll play a critical role in building and scaling Nasdaq Verafin's big data pipeline infrastructure to support business-critical insights that power the fight against financial crime.

Design and develop enterprise-scale data pipelines that process large datasets, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and cost-efficiency.

Contribute to the architecture of scalable data ingestion and transformation solutions for structured and unstructured data using modern lakehouse patterns.

Partner with analytics teams and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions — from raw data to consumable data products.

Manage and evolve cloud data infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code best practices.

Participate in code reviews and contribute to team engineering standards and documentation.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

3+ years of hands-on experience designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting large-scale cloud-based data pipelines.

Solid experience with cloud infrastructure services, including storage, compute, networking, and access management.

Proficiency in Python and/or Java, with demonstrated ability to write clean, performant code and build optimized data transformation workflows.

Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL, along with experience using infrastructure-as-code practices.

Experience with modern data lakehouse platforms and open table formats.

Leadership experience or a strong mentoring background, with demonstrated ability to guide architectural decisions.

Familiarity with cloud security, networking architecture, and modern business intelligence tools.
This position will be located in St.John’s or Toronto and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.

The base pay range for this role is $96,000 - $132,000. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, experience, education/training, business needs and market demands.
