EIC Shared Services' Finance Department has an available opportunity in Winnipeg, MB.
The General Ledger Accountant position is a key support to the Financial Management team, ensuring that delegated month and year end accounting functions are completed accurately and within established timelines. The incumbent also performs the day-to-day accounting functions as delegated.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Daily/monthly banking functions
- Assistance in the preparation of the monthly/quarterly/year-end financial statements, including but not limited to:
- Balance sheet reconciliations including all standard entries
- Revenue reconciliations including maintenance/reconciliation of revenue accruals
- Expense reconciliations including maintenance/reconciliation of expense accruals
- Assisting with auditor information requests with annual, internal, and external audits
- Batch review of payable/receivable transactions
- Liaise with and provide support to accounts payable/accounts receivable teams as required
- Provide information support and data analysis as requested by Financial and Departmental Management
- Development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Other duties as assigned
Hours of work:
- Full Time – Monday to Friday
- Overtime may be required to meet operational timelines for month end, year end and various projects
Qualifications & Skills:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred
- Enrollment in the CPA program at an intermediate level is an asset
- 3-5 years of experience in full-cycle general ledger accounting, up to and including balance sheet and income statement reviews
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Experience with fixed asset and inventory accounting is an asset
- Experience with Great Plains Accounting system is an asset
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Demonstrated success in meeting tight deadlines
- Demonstrated ability in identifying and implementing continuous improvement
- Demonstrated ability of critical thinking skills when analyzing financial data
- Willingness to share ideas, find solutions and improvements and support others to be successful
- Able to build strong, trusting relationships with stakeholders, financial management and fellow team members
