Engineering Technologist, Asset Management
About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic individual with exceptional customer service and technical skills. The Engineering Technologist, Asset Management is responsible for maintaining the distribution system through inspection and maintenance programs, inventory management, and proactive asset replacements.
Duties include:
- Plan, monitor, and report the progress of Asset Management programs, including the inspection and maintenance programs, and reliability trending
- Collaborate and coordinate with other departments to ensure programs are on track
- Provide insight towards inspection and maintenance practices to better extend the health of the distribution system
- Perform cost benefit analysis for reactive and proactive capital replacement programs, utilizing age, condition, and financial criteria
- Investigate and implement continuous improvement within asset management
- Prepare documentation for new and existing material approval, focusing on new technologies for the distribution system
- Work in compliance with all health, safety, and environmental legislations
- Other duties assigned by Supervisor
Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Completion of a 3-year Engineering Technology diploma or a 4-year Engineering Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Registered as a Certified Engineering Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T. or licensed Professional Engineer with PEO (or be eligible for registration)
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in overhead and underground distribution systems, including asset types, operating characteristics, maintenance practices, and lifecycle considerations
- Strong knowledge of asset management practices, asset lifecycle planning, and the development of capital investment and replacement strategies
- Sound knowledge and understanding of electrical theory, and familiarity with power system operations, practices, and installation standards
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft office programs, GIS, and related computer software applications
- Experience in safety as it relates to design and job planning
- Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s Licence with an excellent driving record
- Effective communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
