Position Overview
The Oversight Analyst/Senior Oversight Analyst is responsible for overseeing and monitoring the operational aspects of securities market infrastructure, including self-regulatory organizations (SROs), marketplaces (including the TSX Venture Exchange (TSX‑V)), and clearing agencies (including the Canadian Depository for Securities (CDS)).
This role conducts in-depth analysis of regulatory filings and submissions, coordinates ongoing oversight activities, and participates in or leads on-site audits to assess compliance risks. The Oversight Analyst/Senior Oversight Analyst collaborates with internal stakeholders and Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) counterparts to support effective oversight, contributes to policy development, and provides guidance on regulatory matters impacting market infrastructure entities.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Review and analyze regulatory filings to ensure compliance and identify emerging risks across Canada’s market infrastructure- Play a key role in the oversight of marketplaces, SROs, and clearing agencies, collaborating with colleagues across BCSC and CSA jurisdictions
- Plan and conduct on-site audits, using a risk-based approach to assess operations and strengthen regulatory outcomes
- Prepare and deliver clear, insightful analysis and recommendations that inform senior decision-makers and shape regulatory action
- Support the development of policies and regulatory frameworks that respond to evolving market trends and risks
- Serve as a primary point of contact with market participants, supporting ongoing dialogue and transparency
- Contribute to high-impact projects and, at a senior level, provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members in support of the BCSC’s oversight mandate
Qualifications
Your qualifications include:
Degree in business, economics, accounting, law, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience- Experience in the securities industry or securities regulation
- Strong working knowledge of securities legislation, compliance, and regulatory practices
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, interpret legislation, and prepare technical reports
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and initiative
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Advanced proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications
Preferred qualifications:
Accounting designation or legal qualification- Audit experience
- Completion of the Canadian Securities Course
- Experience working with risk-based oversight or analytical methodologies

Salary Range
The salary range for Oversight Analyst (typically 3 to 6 years of relevant experience) is $86,097 (minimum) - $111,814 (midpoint) - $137,531 (maximum).
The salary range for Senior Oversight Analyst (typically 6+ years of relevant experience) is $109,345 (minimum) - $142,007 (midpoint) - $174,667 (maximum).
The starting salary for this position will be determined considering the successful candidate’s relevant experience and education, salaries of other employees in the same salary range, market conditions, and other relevant factors. Starting salaries are normally below the salary band midpoint.
