Blaster- Coffee Creek and Clinton Creek
Pelly Construction Ltd. is a privately owned and operated contract mining company based in Whitehorse, Yukon. For more than 35 years, we have successfully completed major earthmoving, mine development, infrastructure, and environmental reclamation projects across the North.
We are currently seeking an experienced Blaster to join our team at the Coffee Creek Mine Project in the Yukon.
Position Summary
The Blaster is responsible for safely preparing, loading, and initiating blasts in accordance with mine plans, regulatory requirements, and company safety standards. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and experience working in a remote mining environment.
Responsibilities
- Safely prepare, load, and initiate blasts in accordance with approved blast plans.
- Handle, transport, and store explosives in compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Inspect blast sites and ensure all safety procedures are followed before, during, and after blasting.
- Work closely with drillers, supervisors, and site personnel to coordinate daily activities.
- Complete blast documentation and maintain accurate records.
- Follow all company safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
- Participate in daily safety meetings and hazard assessments.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of blasting experience, preferably in mining or heavy civil construction.
- Valid Yukon Blaster's Certificate or B.C. Ministry of Mines Blasting Certificate required.
- Experience working with production blasting in a mining environment.
- Strong knowledge of blasting regulations and safe explosives handling practices.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Comfortable working in a remote fly-in camp environment.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence or equivalent.
Position Details
- Remote fly-in camp located at Coffee Creek Mine, Yukon.
- Rotational schedule.
- 12-hour shifts.
- Camp accommodations and transportation provided.
