Job Summary
EZ Miles Inc. is seeking an experienced and reliable Class 1 Cross-Border Long-Haul Solo Driver for consistent Canada–USA reefer freight.
This position is ideal for an experienced long-haul driver looking for consistent miles, dedicated equipment, and long-term work. Our primary operations include Western Canada and U.S. cross-border lanes, with regular Alberta–USA freight.
The successful candidate will operate a dedicated truck and reefer trailer while maintaining strong communication with dispatch, proper equipment care, and a high standard of safety and compliance.
Typical long-haul rotations may be approximately 7–8 days on the road, depending on freight, weather, border conditions, and Hours of Service.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class 1 commercial vehicle on Canada–USA cross-border routes
- Complete long-haul reefer deliveries safely and on schedule
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Monitor reefer temperatures and follow temperature-control requirements
- Maintain accurate ELD and Hours of Service records
- Maintain regular communication with dispatch regarding trip progress and delays
- Complete and submit bills of lading, PODs, fuel receipts, and required trip documentation promptly
- Properly inspect and secure freight as required
- Immediately report equipment, cargo, or mechanical concerns
- Maintain the cleanliness and condition of assigned equipment
- Represent EZ Miles Inc. professionally with customers, shippers, receivers, and border officials
- Follow all Canadian and U.S. transportation, safety, and compliance requirements
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 driver's licence
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable long-haul driving experience preferred
- Canada–USA cross-border driving experience preferred
- Valid passport and ability to legally enter the United States
- Acceptable driver's abstract
- Reefer experience is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of ELD and Hours of Service requirements
- Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations
- Reliable communication and ability to work independently
- Strong attention to equipment care and preventative maintenance
- Ability to remain on the road for approximately 7–8 days per rotation
