Music Teacher
Job Summary
Blake Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher to inspire students through engaging and meaningful music education. The successful candidate will foster a love of music while developing students’ musical knowledge, creativity, and performance skills. The Music Teacher will plan and deliver dynamic lessons for students of various age groups and abilities, creating a positive learning environment that supports growth, confidence, and artistic expression.Applicants should be supportive of Blake Christian Academy’s Christian Values and mission.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate music lessons that align with curriculum expectations and student needs.
- Develop and maintain lesson plans, instructional materials, and student assessments.
- Teach fundamental music concepts, including rhythm, melody, vocal techniques, music appreciation, and instrumental instruction where applicable.
- Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and well-managed classroom environment.
- Prepare students for performances, concerts, assemblies, and special school events.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff to integrate music into broader educational experiences.
- Assist in planning and coordinating school musical productions, performances, and community events.
- Maintain accurate student records and communicate student progress as required.
- Stay current with best practices in music education and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Degree, diploma, or equivalent training in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field.
- Experience teaching music to children in a classroom, private lesson, or group setting.
- Strong knowledge of music theory, vocal instruction, and/or instrumental music.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage students of varying ages and skill levels.
- Experience working with diverse learners and adapting instruction to meet individual needs.
- Familiarity with early childhood and elementary education is considered an asset.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one).
Preferred Skills
- Ability to teach multiple instruments.
- Experience directing choirs, ensembles, or student performances.
- Knowledge of music technology and digital music resources.
- Strong organizational and collaborative skills.
Pay: $20.00-$35.00 per hour
