The Fuel Data Analyst (Safety and Compliance Department) is accountable for providing overall support in routine-daily reporting using existing data and analytical processes as well as conducting more in-depth analysis to ensure that the business is fully optimized from a pricing & margin standpoint. This in-depth analysis requires the development & design of Excel sheets to effectively access and import the data we have stored in various databases.
Duties:
- Provide analytical support to the Management through daily reporting.
- Provide strategic data analysis all company purchased fuel.
- Provide carrier rate impact analysis on current business: base rate, accessorial charges, and fuel surcharge.
- Assist in uploading and maintaining the Company’s database of freight rates, fuel surcharge(FSC), rate tariffs and accessorial programs ensuring accuracy of content.
- Analyze trends in data and identify opportunities to maximize profit, minimize costs, improve service, recommend value-added business solutions, and determine potential areas for improvement and growth.
- Stay informed on market conditions/trends and provide insights regularly with regards to the alternative fuel options.
- Work as a member of the Safety & Compliance Team – and assist with related duties when required.
Qualifications:
- University or College degree in related studies preferred
- High degree of proficiency with the MS Office Suite of products, primarily Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and provide recommendations
- 1-2 years of business experience in an analytical role is an asset (Trucking industry preferred)
