Job Summary
The Backyard Club is seeking a motivated, hospitality-oriented Gym & Wellness Lead to support the day-to-day operations of our fitness and wellness areas. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on, working with members, helping build programs, and taking ownership of a growing fitness environment.
The successful candidate will oversee the gym floor experience, support reception and member service when needed, coordinate fitness and wellness programming, assist with instructor scheduling, and help create a clean, safe, welcoming, and premium experience for members. Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day member experience within the gym and wellness areas.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and professional fitness environment.
- Welcome and assist members, including occasional support at reception/front desk.
- Support member onboarding, fitness-related questions, and general member engagement.
- Help develop and coordinate gym, fitness, yoga, mobility, recovery, and wellness programming.
- Source, coordinate, and support instructors for yoga studio classes, small group training, and wellness offerings.
- Assist with scheduling classes, instructors, and personal training sessions.
- Support and oversee fitness instructors to ensure a consistent, professional member experience.
- Lead or assist with group classes, personal training, or fitness instruction where appropriate.
- Demonstrate proper exercise techniques and promote safe use of equipment.
- Monitor gym equipment, cleanliness, supplies, and member concerns, and escalate issues when needed.
- Work closely with the operations team to improve programming, member retention, and overall facility experience.
- Foster a positive, service-focused, and community-driven atmosphere.
Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience in fitness, personal training, group instruction, gym operations, or wellness programming preferred.
- Fitness certification, personal training certification, yoga/fitness specialty certification, or related education is an asset.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Hospitality-oriented mindset with a polished, professional, and member-first approach.
- Comfortable taking initiative and helping build programs from the ground up.
- Ability to coordinate instructors, classes, schedules, and day-to-day gym needs.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Leadership qualities and ability to motivate both members and instructors.
- Experience in a premium fitness, wellness, sports club, hospitality, or member-based environment is an asset.

We are looking for someone who is more than just an instructor. The ideal candidate is hands-on, proactive, friendly, organized, and excited to help shape the gym and wellness experience at TBC. They should be comfortable switching between member service, programming, instructor coordination, and light instruction as needed.
Pay: $17.20-$23.00 per hour
