Construction Site Manager (Industrial Automation) – Newmarket, ON
Elite Force Staffing is seeking an experienced Construction Site Manager to lead the on-site execution of a large industrial automation installation in Newmarket, Ontario.
As the Constructor's on-site representative, you will oversee daily construction activities, coordinate multiple contractors, enforce health and safety requirements, manage site logistics, monitor quality and schedule, and support commissioning and project handover. This role is ideal for an experienced site leader with a strong background in industrial construction, automation, or material handling systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily site operations and coordinate multiple trades and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario OHSA, site safety plans, and Constructor responsibilities.
- Conduct daily coordination meetings, inspections, and site reporting.
- Manage site access, logistics, deliveries, permits, and work sequencing.
- Monitor project schedule, quality, progress, and field documentation.
- Coordinate technical interfaces between mechanical, electrical, controls, racking, conveyors, and automation systems.
- Track deficiencies, RFIs, action items, and support commissioning and project closeout.
- Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or major non-compliance are identified.
Required Qualifications
- 7–10 years of construction or industrial installation experience.
- Minimum 3 years in a Site Supervisor or Site Manager role.
- Experience coordinating multi-trade construction projects in operating industrial facilities.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and construction safety requirements.
- Experience with site documentation, scheduling, inspections, permits, contractor coordination, and quality control.
- Ability to read construction, structural, mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and construction/project management software.
- Valid driver's license and ability to work full-time on-site in Newmarket, ON.
Required Certifications
- Ontario Supervisor Health & Safety Awareness Training
- WHMIS
- Working at Heights (Ontario-approved)
- Current First Aid/CPR
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automated material handling systems, conveyors, racking, VRCs, robotics, or warehouse automation.
- NCSO, Gold Seal, PMP, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or equivalent.
- Training in lockout/tagout, rigging, incident investigation, confined space awareness, or MEWP operation.
Work Environment
This is a temporary full-time, site-based position in an active industrial facility requiring PPE, regular walking, and occasional extended hours or weekend work during planned project activities.
