Manzil Restaurant at Kismet Estate Winery is looking for a reliable and motivated Line Cook to join our kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced restaurant environment, takes pride in food quality, and wants to be part of a growing culinary program focused on elevated Indian cuisine.
The Line Cook will support daily kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, cooking menu items to Manzil’s standards, maintaining a clean and organized station, and working closely with the culinary team to ensure every dish is served with consistency and care.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, presentation standards, and service timing
- Set up and stock stations before service
- Assist with prep work including chopping, portioning, sauces, marinades, and mise en place
- Maintain consistency in flavour, portioning, plating, and quality
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures
- Keep the kitchen, workstations, equipment, and storage areas clean and organized
- Communicate clearly with chefs, servers, and other kitchen team members during service
- Monitor inventory levels and notify the chef or manager when items are low
- Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating ingredients properly
- Support special events, brunches, private dinners, and catering as needed
- Work efficiently under pressure while maintaining a positive team attitude
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen or line cook experience preferred
- Experience with Indian cuisine is an asset, but not required
- Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen cleanliness
- Ability to follow recipes and direction accurately
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong attention to detail and consistency
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- FoodSafe certification is preferred or must be obtained
