Hello, welcome to East Van Laundry!
We are looking for a long-term part-time laundry attendant to work 2-3 days per week. Specific shifts we're looking to cover are Sundays from 1-6pm and Wednesdays 9am-3pm starting June. There is an opportunity to work in extended hours on Sunday July 5,12,19,26 and Aug 2 from 6pm-6am, as well as pick up more hours in the summer.

Duties
- Provide friendly customer service :)
- Sort, wash, dry, and fold laundry according to company standards
- Operate laundry equipment such as washers, dryers, and ironing machines
- Manage the full laundry cycle simultaneously — while one load is washing, another should be drying, and another being folded; keeping all machines active and moving at all times
- Track which laundry belongs to which customer across multiple machines at once
- Manage customer flow, including removing uncollected laundry when machines are needed for incoming customers
- Ensure proper handling and storage of clean and dirty linens
- Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop throughout the day
- Be able to carry 30+lbs of laundry and stand for long periods of time
Experience
- Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced, physically active environment — this role requires you to be doing several things at once, consistently, for the duration of your shift
- Strong attention to detail and ability to track multiple tasks and customers simultaneously
- Previous experience in customer service
- Ability to work independently and use good judgment when priorities shift
- Experience in a physically demanding job where you need to be on your feet all day
- English proficient
As a Laundry Attendant, you will be responsible for fulfilling commercial and residential laundry orders for their due date while delivering excellent customer service. This is a role where you'll always be managing multiple stages of the laundry process at the same time, while greeting customers, handling payments, and keeping the floor organized. We pride ourselves on providing the best customer service, so greeting everyone with a smile and engaging conversation is encouraged! The business of the shop fluctuates often, so strong independent judgment and the ability to reprioritize on the fly are essential. This is especially important as there is typically only one person working at a time. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time because we are always improving our service!
