The Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to teach BMEN 619.45 - Advanced Topics in Biomedical Engineering: Reproducible & Responsible AI in the Fall 2026 term. The course is scheduled to be delivered in-person.
Course Description: There is an increasing usage of AI for healthcare applications. In this course, we will review key concepts related to open science and responsible AI development with focus on bias and fairness definition to healthcare applications.
Winter Term Course Schedule:
Lecture: Tuesday/Thursday, 3:30-4:45pm
Qualifications:
Candidates must have an MSc (PhD preferred) in Biomedical or Software Engineering with a focus on artificial intelligence for healthcare applications, and responsible use of these technologies. Knowledge of and practical experience with multiple different data types will be a plus. Past teaching experience, preferably in a closely related course or courses will be a plus.
