Position Summary
Pro Cut Lumber Corporation is seeking an analytical and motivated Accountant to join our team. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this is a new position ideal for someone who is looking to use their accounting knowledge to grow long term, work as a team, and deeply understand how businesses operate. We’re proud to have very low employee turnover as a whole group but especially on the finance team.
The position covers all financial aspects of the business, with an emphasis on analysis. The role will include accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial analysis, business strategy, and developing management skills. We’re here to build and support our team with the expectation that team members are always looking to improve and learn from mistakes. The right person for this role cares about their work and doing it well, while treating others with respect and support, and a mindset geared towards finding solutions.
As our operations cover mid Vancouver Island, we have multiple offices that our finance team works from. Typically, these are in Parksville, Chemainus, and Lake Cowichan. Flexibility and ability to commute to each of these locations day to day is a key requirement and will be compensated.
Key Responsibilities
- Month end journal entries and balance sheet and sub ledger reconciliations;
- Weekly and monthly reporting;
- Work directly with operational and finance personnel across the business;
- Prepare ad hoc reports for management as needed;
- Support Controller with tracking performance of various projects and KPIs, and optimization analysis;
- Other duties that may be assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Four-year degree in accounting from an accredited post-secondary institution is required.
- 1 to 3 years accounting experience is preferred but willing to train as an entry level role for the right candidate.
- Intermediate excel skills (i.e. pivot tables, x-lookups, other formulas) is preferred, or ability to quickly learn with training & support. Experience with excel and Windows based computer skills are required.
- We are willing to support someone who is or would like to pursue their CPA designation through the experience verification process.
- Experience with the forestry industry and/or public practice accounting is a strong asset. We will also provide direct experience to learn the logging industry.
- Valid BC Driver’s Licence.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Pay: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
