Job Title: Highway Refiner
Job Description:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-oriented Refiner and Machine Operators to join our landscaping team. This position involves vegetation control and landscape maintenance along highways, roadsides, and public infrastructure areas. The ideal candidate is comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and has experience operating brushcutters or similar landscaping equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate brushcutters and other handheld landscaping equipment for vegetation control along highways and roadsides.
- Perform trimming, cutting, and clearing of grass, weeds, and brush in roadside and highway areas.
- Maintain safe working practices while operating near traffic and public infrastructure.
- Follow all safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Conduct daily equipment checks and report any mechanical issues.
- Assist with general landscaping and vegetation management tasks as required.
- Work collaboratively with crew members and supervisors to complete assigned routes and projects efficiently.
- controls heavy-duty and power equipment to excavate, grade earth, and install landscaping features.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous experience operating brushcutters or landscaping equipment is an asset.
- Experience in roadside or highway maintenance is preferred.
- Ability to work safely in environments near moving traffic.
- Physically capable of performing outdoor labour in varying weather conditions.
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and equipment handling.
- Valid driver’s license (Class G preferred).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Location: In person – Highway and roadside project locations
Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
